Alftafjörður is a fjord on the Snæfellsnes peninsula. While I had traveled around the fjord on a number of previous visits, I hadn't spent much time exploring the area. Because of my interest in the Sagas of Icelanders, and because many of the episodes in Eyrbyggja saga take place at sites along the shore of the fjord, I spent more time exploring this region on this visit. The swans that give Alftafjörður (swan fjord) its name were present in large numbers, barely visible as white dots on the water in this low resolution image. |
