Ísland 2007: Krafla |

There's a geothermal electrical generating plant at Krafla, a geothermal area in the hills above Mývatn. High pressure steam, created by volcanic forces below the ground, is collected and carried by pipes to a generating station. The hills and one of the outbuildings of the plant were lit up by the late evening sun when this photo was taken. |
