Ísland 2006: Kaldbaksvík

I stopped to shoot photographs at Kaldbaksvík, a bay on the Strandir route. Looking back to the road, it seemed as if my rental car was lost in a field of boulders from the cliffs above. Not surprisingly, this point (Kaldbakskleif) is dangerous because of the falling rocks. The lack of injuries there through the centuries has been attributed to Guðmundur goði, a 13th century bishop, who consecrated the site. Since I was oblivious to the dangers as I shot my photographs, I am grateful for his efforts. Back |
