Ísland 2006: Hvítarvatn

Hvítarvatn (white lake) is immediately adjacent to the Langjökull glacier in the highlands. The dissolved sediment in the glacial water gives the lake its white color. The guidebook says that ice that has broken off from the glacier can be seen floating in the lake, although I've never seen that in any of my visits. Back |
