Hólar was the bishopric in northern Iceland for seven centuries and remains a historical and cultural icon.

Hólar is a spectacular site for its natural beauty as well, located below the Hólabyrða mountains. This photo was taken in the evening from behind the church and bell tower at Hólar, looking back towards Skagafjörður.
