Ísland 2005: Reykjavíkurtjörn

Tjorn

Tjörnin, the pond in the heart of Reykjavík, is home to thousands of waterfowl, some of which were just waking up as this photo was taken.

My Icelandic acquaintance suggested this should be labeled as Reykjavíkurtjörn, to distinguish it from other ponds with the name of Tjörn, but to me, there is only one Tjörn.

The modern building on and in the pond is Rúðhúsið, the city hall for Reykjavík.
