Hurstwic is a loosely affiliated group based in New England with an interest in the societies and peoples who lived in Northern Europe during the Viking age.

We have no formal organization, such as our group once had in the past, but we continue the group's original mission. We learn about Viking age topics through research and through "hands-on" experiences as we re-create Viking and Anglo-Saxon arts, crafts, and daily living experiences. We share the results of our research through articles written for this web site, as well as through presentations and demonstrations at museums, school, universities, academic conferences, and other cultural institutions.

Much of our focus is on the weapons of the Viking age, their use, and their role in Viking society. We research, practice, teach, and demonstrate the fighting moves of the Vikings.
