Hurstwic Projects

When Hurstwic's formal organization was dissolved, most of the ongoing group projects came to a halt.

However, Hurstwic's plan to build a Norse era longhouse had advanced significantly when the group dissolved its formal structure..

A parcel of land in Worcester County, Massachusetts was purchased. The land encompasses woodland and meadows, along with a stream and small duck pond (complete with ducks). Most recently, the land was used for a riding stable, although the original owners are retaining the stables and barns.

We are hopeful that a longhouse will fit comfortably on the meadow (right) next to the stream (left).

By early 2003, when Hurstwic disbanded its formal organization, an access road through the woods into the site (right) was complete, and the land had been cleared for the longhouse.

Members hope to continue to move this project forward.
